Plant List Generator Download

This tool is a Microsoft Excel file with macros which should run on Office 2016 and Office 365. It may not work on the 2010 MS Excel version (click here for information on running the tool without a compatible PC). Work is underway to port the Plant List Generator to an alternative platform that is less constrained by the type of computer used. The long term goal is to make it interactive through a host server but we don’t yet have the resources to support this option.

  1. Click on the “Download” button. This will initiate the download.
  2. Then click on the download icon in the upper right of the screen.
  3. Once the download is complete, locate the file in your Downloads folder or where your browser saves downloads.
  4. Right-click on the file and select “Extract All.” Choose where to extract the contents of the zip file. You can select “Browse” to view your folders and create a new folder if you prefer. When you have selected a folder to extract the file, select “Extract”.
  5. Open the newly created folder and locate the Microsoft Excel Plant List Generator file that was extracted from the zip file. Open this file. You might receive a message “SECURITY WARNING. Some active content has been disabled. Click for more details.” If so, select the “Enable Content” the button to enable the generator to run.
  6. Follow the instructions displayed on the “Instructions” sheet.
